Well live show 4 is over and this is my first blog but as my gran says, better late than never. Time will tell if that proves to be true. I have been watching avidly to date but will content myself today with a catch up on the contestants still remaining:
TreyC – thought I’d get her out of the way quickly – small, great voice – completely forgettable – cannot remember a single song she has sung other than Purple Rain which she murdered (to be fair I think all X Factor contestants murder this song– including Ruth so wouldn’t necessarily hold that against her.) She has no chance of winning so I wish she would just do something memorable - perhaps punching Katie (?)
Ah the aforementioned Katie she is – a legend/monkey/highstrung/fragile/a tw*t (please choose your favourite description from the many available) I actually quite liked her voice at first and was one of the few that didn’t think she should necessarily be replaced by Gamu but that feels like 5 years ago and she is becoming increasingly tedious – stop crying for f*ck’s sake you didn’t even go out!! Your 15 minutes are up so just go!
Paige – see TreyC though a bit more lively. I’m sure some people like him just not really sure who.
Cher – The problem is that she is in the wrong category – it’s completely unfair that she is not in the overs – I thought the cut off was 28 and she has to be 45 at least! Just think we could have avoided Storm completely and kept Gamu – don’t know why anyone else hasn’t thought of this (must just be me) To be fair I don’t mind Cher, I can see why some people would like her – I don’t but I can see why some do.
Now Aiden is a dark horse isn’t he? – and I really mean dark. His Thriller was IMHO so bizarre it was brilliant and whilst he isn’t the best singer, he is always interesting – even if it is in a “vote for me or I’ll strangle your puppy” sort of way. Yeah I’m loving Aiden definitely want him to hang around for a good while yet. (maybe he could deal with Katie for me??)
1 Direction leave me without adequate words – which frankly is not like me at all. I mean what is the point of a boyband that don’t dance. We know they don’t cos Zain made a big point of letting everyone know this at Bootcamp. And isn’t it lucky that the XF just happened to tape the fact that he didn’t want to and good old Simon sorted it out (I am sure he spends a lot of time personally dealing with recalcitrant teenagers who won’t do what they are told) Cos absolutely it wasn’t set up and they hadn’t already decided that they were going to create a boyband with him in and they needed the back story (see also Harry and the girls piece on XtraFactor). Bottom line is they are really not very good –but I have no doubt we will have to put up with them until the very end – joy
Rebecca I really struggle with. She is like Cauliflower – bear with me - I know it’s good for me but it’s so bland that I can only eat it smothered in cheese sauce which sort of defeats the object. Now I’m not suggesting we smoother her in cheese sauce (well I think Wagner might want to) but she certainly needs livening up and if they do that she loses her essential Rebeccaness- I’m sure she will do well but just blah for me.
Matt was described this week by the Guardian as singing Bleeding Love as sounding how it would if U2 sang it. Excellent description if you ask me and why not? – better than Leona (narcolepsy) Lewis. Declaring my allegiance I am a Matt fan and would be happy to replace the rest with just Matt singing 10 songs – but I don’t suppose that would work (are we sure?). Don’t care about the hat particularly but more tight fine knit jumpers work for me – I’m just saying obviously it’s all about the music!
Do I have to mention Wagner – can I just pretend he’s out already? No? OK – I get the joke contestant thing, I really do, and Jedward was (were?) entertaining in their strange way but I am just not getting Wagner. He used to be a PE teacher apparently – I think he worked in my school but they called social services - enough with the letching over the dancers it’s gross – can we have a double eviction next week and lose him and Katie together – please???
